Fly control in your pig stable
Predatory flies and/or mini wasps are both effective treatments to the fly problems in your pig stables. They are a preventative and holistic solution to get rid of unwanted flies in stables.
– This window, it would have been black in three days if it wasn’t for the predatory flies, says pig producer Lars Peter Simonsen from the hallway and look in through a small window in one of the stables where the pigs mosey around.
Lars Peter Simonsen, along with his wife Kirsten, run Hovmarkgård outside of Dronninglund in Vendsyssel. This is a pig farm which produces 6 500 pigs for slaughter yearly. The couple have used predatory flies to keep the torment of unwanted flies under control for many years.

Easy fly control in pig stables
Pig stables can be effectively treated with biological fly control, so neither you, your employees, nor your animals experience problems with unwanted flies.
This is an easy solution though it does require that you approach the treatment as the preventative and holistic method that it is.
Predatory flies work best when they are the right place
Predatory flies from Miljøfluen® will be delivered to the table in perforated bags, these simply have to be opened and placed in the recommended locations. Once this has happened the flies will do the rest by seeking into the slurry channels and do their thing, then it is simply to sit back and wait, and add more predatory flies when needed.
The flies fly out of the bags and into the slurry channels
In the bags of predatory flies we pack both eggs, larvae, and pupaeI – once the predatory flies in the bags hatch they fly out and seek areas with manure.
Manure is an ideal location for unwanted flies to breed and thus also for predatory flies to hunt and breed.
Predatory flies prevent a breakout of unwanted flies
They lay their eggs at the top of the manure and once these egg hatch the predatory larvae start eating the larvae of the unwanted flies. This prevents fly problems in the stable as the unwanted flies are handled before they leave the slurry channels.
A bag of predatory flies covers 100 square metres of stable
Predatory flies from Miljøfluen® are produced in Denmark, are SPF Approved, and one single bag contains eggs, pupae, larvae, and hatched flies enough to handle fly control in a 100 square metre stable area.
Biological fly control is a timesaving solution
When the predatory flies arrive at the stable, the work load for you is only to unpack the content of the box, open the bag, and place it at the designated location in the stable.
When the bag is in place, you simple leave the flies to do their thing, so they can handle the unwanted flies in your stable.
Easy subscription solution
Fly control with predatory flies from Miljøfluen® is a simple and easy subscription with no lock-in. Together with you we make a plan for your specific stables that covers the usual fly season (March/April till October/November). From that we keep track of the deliveries and make sure to send the next round of predatory flies for you when it’s time to add another round,
Our experts will make a free delivery plan for your stables, and they are available for counselling throughout your subscription period in case you have any questions – you can of course always cancel your subscription.
We know what we are doing
A pig stable is not just a pig stable and there are many different details to take into consideration when making a plan for how many units the beneficial insects to deploy and how often. A finishing stable, a gilt stable, and a farrowing stable are certainly not the same and our experts have experience with all of it.
We will make a plan based on the stable system, size, and setup. In addition to these you may have procedures in the stable that needs to be taken into consideration, for example controlled breeding, washdowns, or others.
First we need to know about your stables
A solution with biological fly control is based by the fly season – in Denmark this is usually from March/April till October/November, but will of course be adjusted for local variations.
Based on the plan we agree on, you make a subscription with no lock-in, for the beneficial insects. This can, of course, be cancelled at any time.
The plan will detail how many and how often predatory flies and/or mini wasps are to be added to the stable for optimal efficiency.
When the plan has been agreed upon with one of our experts you only have to wait for the first arrival of beneficial insects and look forward to a calm fly season.
